USTRANSCOM prefixes begin changing from the current 256 to 229 for commercial calls April through July. The area code of 618 remains unchanged.
DSN prefixes change from 576 to 779.
The phone number changes affect only USTRANSCOM and Air Mobility Command phone numbers.
Other Scott Air Force Base numbers are unaffected.
Callers that dial "old" directory number will be routed to an auto attendant service. Once there, callers will hear a recorded message explaining that the directory number has been changed before being automatically routed to the new directory number. This service will be in place for 120 days (until the end of July).
Many individual official extension numbers will also change. Persons with regular communication needs with USTRANSCOM or AMC personnel should contact individuals for new numbers during the transition period.
Direct questions or comments to the telecommunications Service Center (TSC) at (618) 256-2341.
