AMC announces Spaatz Trophy winner
SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- Air Mobility Command announced the 99th Air Refueling Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., the winner of the 1999 Gen. Carl A. Spaatz Trophy April 12.
The Spaatz trophy is awarded to the most outstanding air refueling squadron in AMC. As the highest tasked tanker squadron in AMC, the 99th ARS flew in excess of 6,700 flying hours, off-loaded 44 million pounds of fuel during more than 1,500 sorties, and achieved an air refueling effectiveness rate exceeding 99.9 percent.
They supported NATO's peacekeeping efforts in Bosnia, Operation Northern Watch, the president's movement to Southeast Asia, and humanitarian relief efforts in East Timor.
In addition, they also earned the U.S. Air Force Safety Plaque. (FROM AIR MOBILITY COMMAND PUBLIC AFFAIRS).
