Half-staffing of the national flag
WASHINGTON, D.C. (USTCNS) --- At the direction of the President of the United States and in accordance with public law, the flag of the United States will be flown at half-staff on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, Monday, May 15, 2000. This tribute is in honor of the over 14,000 law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The flag will be flown at half-staff on all military posts, naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the federal government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its territories and possessions including all military facilities and naval vessels abroad.
