Transportation training opportunity in Hawaii

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (USTCNS) --- The 599th Transportation Group will host a training opportunity for transportation professionals in Honolulu this fall when it puts on its sixth annual Pacific Command / Multi-Modal Traffic Management Training Workshop. The workshop will be at the Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel, Oct. 23 - 27, 2000.

This year's theme is - Multi-Modalism into the 21st Century: New Roads to New Destinations.

The goal of the workshop is to provide military and commercial transporters the latest in Department of Defense transportation policies and procedures. Participants will also receive hands-on training in some of the latest transportation computer technology.

The workshop is especially geared toward middle managers involved in International Personal Property, Passenger Traffic and Cargo Operations / Movement and Plans, according to Patricia Bushong, Traffic Management Specialist for the 599th and organizer of the event.

The workshop also provides discussion opportunities for participants and the possibility of immediate resolution of common multi-service transportation problems.

Briefings and speakers will be presented from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the U.S. Pacific Command, the U.S. Transportation Command, the Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC), other federal agencies and the commercial transportation industry.

Individual Service Tack-On Meetings for the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy are scheduled. Advance Tack-On agendas will be provided through the HQ MTMC web site (see below) as the workshop draws closer.

This year's agenda will include two days of training in the Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System (TOPS) functional and technical areas.
