ALEXANDRIA, Va. (USTCNS) --- Lt. Gen. Dan Brown's first visit to the Military Traffic Management Command's new headquarters produced praise - and nostalgia.
Brown, deputy commander of the U.S. Transportation Command, said he served years ago in the same structure -- the Hoffman II Building, 200 Stovall St., Alexandria, Va.
"It's interesting to be back," said Brown, who much earlier in his career was assigned to the Army's Personnel Command and worked on the building's sixth floor as chief of the transportation branch.
Brown visited the new MTMC headquarters area on Aug. 31.
After visiting with Maj. Gen. Kenneth L. Privratsky, commander, he toured the building's command and control center and talked to MTMC employees.
"We're real proud of our new work area," said Rick Shilby, east team leader.
Bill Lucas, praised the new building.
"We have a much smoother business process flow here," said Lucas, deputy to the commander.
For almost 35 years, the Military Traffic Management Command was located in the Nassif Building, on Columbia Pike, in Falls Church, Va. The command relocated this past summer.
The old Nassif Building was well remembered by Frank Weber, deputy logistics, who accompanied Brown.
"This is great," said Weber. "You do not have the staff so separated."
Weber worked in MTMC from 1975-1983 and often visited in later years. (FROM MILITARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT COMMAND PUBLIC AFFAIRS).
