The theme of this year's conference is "2001: A Global Focus for the Future."
"We selected this theme to bring together the many facets of freight, passenger and personal property transportation," said Jeanie Bell Winslow, Program Manager.
The symposium will be held April 9-12, in Dallas, Texas.
A record attendance of 1,800 is expected this year, said Winslow.
"This is my fifth conference and I am really excited about all the enhancements we have added," said Winslow.
The enhancements include on-line registration at the new symposium Web page at www.mtmc.army.mil. Users click on "MTMC Symposiums & Conferences."
"The Web page includes everything an attendee needs to know to attend the conference and book both symposium and hotel reservations," said Winslow.
Highlighting the symposium will be two panels, said Winslow. The panel will include "Quality of Life," moderated by Bill Lucas, MTMC's Deputy to the Commander, on April 10 and "Global Changes for Deployment and Sustainment," moderated by Rear Admiral Edward Fahy, Director, Plans & Policy, U.S. Transportation Command, on April 11.
"Attendees will have an opportunity to sit in on 10 individual functional breakouts on such subjects as Global Freight Management/PowerTrack, Deployment Transformation Challenges, Passenger and Personal Property Programs. The breakout sessions will be repeated five separate times to ensure participants may attend subjects of their choice.
There will be over 100 government and industry exhibits at the symposium's exhibition. The displays are a joint partnership of MTMC and the National Defense Transportation Association.
The MTMC Training Symposium will be at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Reservations will be accepted through the on-line registration at the symposium webpage.
Government rate for military and civilians traveling on official orders is $111.25 per night, plus tax. All taxes are reimbursed when claimed on attendees' travel vouchers.
The non-governmental rate is $149 single, or $169 double, per night, plus tax.
Rooms will be filled on a first-come basis. All rooms must be guaranteed with a major credit card. Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the date of arrival to avoid a no-show or cancellation fee.
"Rooms are filling up fast," said Winslow. "The hotel is already half booked.
"People should register on-line now."
