USTRANSCOM and AMC command surgeon nominated for two-star promotion

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced 15 March that the President nominated Air Force Brig. Gen. James G. Roudebush for appointment to the rank of major general.

Roudebush is currently serving as command surgeon, Air Mobility Command; and command surgeon, United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He assumed his current position in July 2000.

He holds a bachelor of medicine degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, and a Master's in public health, University of Texas School of Public Health, San Antonio.

He entered the Air Force in 1975.

Roudebush is a graduate of the Air War College, the Institute for Federal Health Care Executives, George Washington University, Washington, D.C., the National War College, and the Executive Management Course, Defense Systems Management College.

His many command and staff assignments during his career include, Commander, 81st Tactical Fighter Wing Clinic; Commander, 36th Tactical Fighter Wing Hospital; Vice Commander, Human Systems Center, Brooks Air Force Base; Command Surgeon, U.S. Central Command; Command Surgeon, Pacific Air Forces; and Commander, 89th Medical Group among others.

Roudebush is rated as a chief flight surgeon. He has more 1,000 in transport, fighter, tanker, and rotor wing aircraft and holds the Chief Physician and Chief Flight Surgeon Badges.

His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal among others.
