Cheney helps 1st Helicopter Squadron celebrate milestone
ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. (USTCNS) --- Vice President Dick Cheney cut the first slice of cake commemorating the 1st Helicopter Squadron's milestone of 200,000 accident-free flight hours late last month at Andrews Air Force Base.
Cheney was the keynote speaker for the ceremony and presented the unit with the Air Mobility Command Unit Mishap-free Flying-year and Flying-hour Milestone Award.
Gen. Charles T. "Tony" Robertson Jr., commander Air Mobility Command and commander-in-chief United States Transportation Command and Brig. Gen. James Hawkins, 89th Airlift Wing commander, also attended the event.
Cheney also presided over the 150,000 accident-free flight hours in 1991 when he was Secretary of Defense.
