ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. (USTCNS) --- Each year, the Department of Defense presents the annual joint service air show at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. While the open house is hosted at Andrews, all service branches -- Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy -- participate.

The joint service air show is a celebration of the commitment and dedication of the members of the Department of Defense. The equipment, technology and people displayed, reflect the high quality of individuals who defend and support the United States of America.

For those familiar with the Beltway, exit at either exit 9 or 11 to get to the base. Specific directions can be requested from the Andrews site.

This year's show is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20, 2001 and activities begin at 8:00 a.m.

This year's premier aerial demonstration team is the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Some of the other exciting highlights include:

· 82nd Airborne demo
· C-17 demo
· U.S. Marine Corps Rappell/Fast Rope demo
· U.S. Army Golden Knights
· Red Barons
· Julie Clark
