WASHINGTON (USTCNS) --- Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced recently that President Bush has nominated Army Col. Kathleen M. Gainey for appointment to the rank of brigadier general.

Gainey is currently serving as the chief, Joint Operations Division, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
