SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- "Get Into It." That is the theme of Air Mobility Command's super summer promotion, Around The World In Ninety Days, more commonly known as ATWIND.

In this the third year of ATWIND, AMC is being joined by Air Force Space Command.

According to Air Force Col. Terry Mayer, director, AMC Services, ATWIND has been enormously successful over the past two years.

"We are very pleased to be partnering with AFSPC for ATWIND 2001" he said. "ATWIND has become the premiere summer promotion and I have no doubt the best is yet to come."

Successful is a mild attribute when you consider last year's program boasts such staggering figures: almost 50,000 registered participants, over 279,000 website visits, over 65,000 calls to the ATWIND toll-free number and over 750,000 game pieces were played. Almost 4,000 prizes were awarded during last year's program. Prizes included a Ford Windstar and a Ford Focus, plus vacation trips, cash and lots more.

The goal of the ATWIND promotion is to increase awareness and participation in programs, services and activities throughout the command.

"ATWIND offers something for just about everyone," Mayer said. "ATWIND's Master Events List includes opportunities in recreational activities, sports and fitness, social functions, youth programs, educational opportunities, family support programs, chapel programs, base events and services-the list of ATWIND opportunities is quite impressive."

ATWIND is a virtual adventure around the world. The player's "mission" is to travel from one landmark destination to another. Players earn travel miles every time they participate in an ATWIND event. The program runs from June 1- August 31, 2001.

Participants must register to play and then log their miles by accessing the ATWIND Internet website at www.atwind.com <http://www.atwind.com> or calling the ATWIND hotline at 1-888-597-9960. Players work their way around the world by flying to five different destinations. Upon reaching a specific destination, they are then entered into the drawing for that destination's prize.

More ATWIND participation means more game pieces and earns more mileage towards more prizes. There are five destinations, each with its own grand prize.

This year, prizes range from promotional T-shirts to vacation packages, cash and your choice of one of three Ford Motor Company vehicles. "ATWINNER" random prizes will also be awarded during the game piece registration process. All prize drawings are conducted at random.

Both AMC and AFSPC will have dedicated command prizes. Once registered, players will participate in their command program. Both commands will feature a base-to-base competition. Both AMC and AFSPC each have $100,000 they will award to bases achieving their "ATWIND Mission." ATWIND 2001 will feature thousands of prizes and a lot of summer fun.
