ATWIND family fun day picnic
SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- Are you ready for some fun? Grab your family and head to the Around the World in Ninety Days (ATWIND) Family Fun Day Picnic at the Youth Center Pavilion, Scott Air Force Base from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 10.
"Services wants to thank our customers," says Lisa Timmermann, 375th Services marketing director. "We hope everyone comes out to join us for this day of free fun."
It wouldn't be a picnic without food, so free food and beverages will be available. Hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken breasts will be provided at a number of locations to avoid long lines. In addition, picnic goers can treat themselves to free soda, popcorn and snow cones. O'Charley's restaurant of O'Fallon is providing the hamburgers and hot dogs for the event, Timmermann said.
Families will also find plenty to do at the picnic. A moon walk, an inflated obstacle course, an Orbitron, a dunk tank and youth game booths will await them.
According to Maj Jonathan Leathers, 375th Services Squadron commander, several displays will also be set up at the picnic.
The Scott Aero Club will have a plane on display. Various sponsors and organizations will have booths, too.
The 375th Security Forces Squadron will be doing fingerprinting, D.A.R.E. and a clock ball throw. The squadron's military working dogs are scheduled to put on a demonstration at noon.
The safe smoke house will be at the picnic, Leathers said. In addition, Sparky and Pluggy will be greeting picnic goers.
The ATWIND game booth will be the center of much of the day's action. Those in attendance can earn game pieces by playing an ATWIND game at the booth and earn a chance to win Services Gift Certificates. In addition, Services will be handing out attendance prizes throughout the day.
"We have a variety of things to do and fun for everyone. It's a chance for us (the Services Squadron) to thank everyone for their continued support of our activities," Timmermann said. "We have the best customers in the Air Force."
Corporate and local sponsors include USAA, Sprint, Sprint PCS, Ford Motor Company, Coca Cola, US Airways, Tyson Foods, Compaq, Services, O'Charley's and Cookies by Design. No federal endorsement of sponsors intended. (FROM 375TH SERVICES SQUADRON)
