USTRANSCOM selects top service members of quarter

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- A senior U.S. Transportation Command leader announced the top military personnel of the quarter in a ceremony here Dec. 18.

Army Maj. Gen. Butch Pair, USTRANSCOM chief of staff, announced the winners of the military service members of the quarter, Oct. - Dec. 2001, at USTRANSCOM's Seay auditorium.

Service members received recognition for outstanding service in categories based on their grade level.

Air Force Senior Airman Chad Bryant, Service Member of the Quarter, is an intelligence communications-computer systems operator in the intelligence directorate. He operates and maintains a $20 million intelligence communications and computer system enabling USTRANSCOM and headquarters Air Mobility Command to plan, schedule and direct worldwide intelligence operations for the Department of Defense.


Army Staff Sgt. Mary Carroll, Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter, is the noncommissioned officer in charge, mission support branch, Global Patient Movement Requirements Center. She is responsible for supervising, training and scheduling 15 tri-service controllers and shift leaders for the 24-hour GPMRC's Patient Movement Operations.

Carroll leads execution monitoring of up to four scheduled continental U.S., Southern Command, near off-shore and overseas inter-theater patient movement missions daily, and notifies all affected facilities of mission status, and provides world-wide access to patient data.

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Scott Giordano, Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter, is superintendent, GPMRC. He is responsible for improving health, welfare, morale, growth and development of 35 tri-service personnel.

Giordano provides operational oversight and management a fast paced, 24/7, one-of-a-kind operation responsible for global patient movement. He provides ready personnel responsible for over 25,000 annual intra- and inter-theater aeromedical evacuation patient moves, and provides counsel and referral support to the enlisted corps. He ensures the director and supervisors understand current policy on personal finances, drug and alcohol abuse, leave, family care, standards of conduct, and military and civil law issues.

Navy Lt. Glenn Owens, Company Grade Officer of the Quarter, is a regional transportation analyst in the intelligence directorate. He serves as an intelligence specialist for a unified command intelligence production center. He is responsible for research, analysis, and production on foreign integrated transportation systems and supporting infrastructures.

Owens directly supports the Intelligence Infrastructure Crisis Cell and facilitates taskings from the Mobility Control Center's future operations and sustainment cells. He also analyzes infrastructure data for the creation of SPOTLIGHT charts, and maintains and updates SPOTLIGHTS as needed.
