USTRANSCOM Army element to celebrate Army's 227th birthday

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- U.S. Transportation Command's Army element, in conjunction with Army Reserve Personnel Command of St. Louis, will host several activities to celebrate the Army's 227th Birthday, it was announced here.

USTRANSCOM's Army element and ARPERSCOM will conduct a 5K/10K Fun Run and walk and an Army Birthday Ball to celebrate the service's anniversary.

This year's theme is "U.S. Army - On Duty For America's Freedom."

The 5K/10K fun run/walk, on May 31, begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Scott AFB parade ground. The registration fee for the run is $5, which includes a T-shirt, or $1 without the T-shirt. A formal Army Ball will be held the evening of June 1 at the Scott Club. Cocktails begin at 6:00 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. The uniform for the event is Army dress mess/blues or service equivalent. The cost for the event is $25 for officers, GS-11 and up, and their guests, $20 for E-7 and up, GS-8 to GS-10, and their guests, and $15 for E-6 and below, GS-7 and below, and their guests.

The dinner meal will feature a choice of Chicken Prosciutto with Alfredo sauce or Tenderloin of Beef with peppercorn sauce.
