Military students from Germany visit USTRANSCOM, AMC

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, IL --- U.S. Transportation Command was host to 29 faculty and students July 23, from the German Air Force General Staff Course in Hamburg, Germany. They were accompanied by the deputy commandant and director of courses, Brig. Gen. Peter Roehrs.

The group was met by Maj. Gen. Carlos “Butch” Pair, USTRANSCOM chief of staff, and was given a briefing on getting to the fight, or how USTRANSCOM plans and directs the movement of military people and equipment to any destination in the world.

They were then taken on a tour of the Operations and Logistics Directorate where they toured the Mobility Control Center, the Crisis Action Team center, Logistics Readiness, and the Deployment Division.

The students also visited Air Mobility Command where they toured the Tanker Airlift Control Center to understand how it relates to USTRANSCOM’s MCC.

As the single manager of America’s Defense Transportation System, USTRANSCOM coordinates the aircraft, ships, trains, and trucks that allow America to project power and sustain forces worldwide, for as long as they are needed.
