United States Transportation Command celebrates 15 years

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- Oct. 1, 2002 marks the 15th anniversary of the United States Transportation Command. USTRANSCOM's story is one of talented and dedicated men and women committed to defending the freedoms we hold so dear. As the command has evolved from its original component of 50 people, our mission has also evolved. Today, we face an unprecedented number of challenges, from the global war on terrorism to humanitarian relief efforts to countless, critical daily missions upon which our nation depends.

America's military and political leaders understand that this country's success in protecting our national interests around the world is due, in large part, to the tremendous effort by the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and civilians of USTRANSCOM and its components, Air Mobility Command, Military Sealift Command and Military Traffic Management Command.

The fact is that without you, none of our nation's military support to the entire spectrum of operations could take place. You have demonstrated your ability to fulfill our president's challenge and we will prevail!

I am extremely proud of your devotion to duty and the outstanding service you provide this great country each and every day. Happy anniversary, USTRANSCOM!
