USTRANSCOM's Col. Butler awarded two medals

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill., (USTCNS) --- Lt. Gen. Gary Hughey, deputy commander, United States Transportation Command, presents the Defense Superior Service Medal to Col. Robert Butler, director of intelligence.

Butler retooled the Intelligence Directorate to maintain a laser focus on providing actionable intelligence to air, land and sea mobility operators and planners, thereby directly supporting execution of the global war on terrorism and Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

During the ceremony, Ms. Joanne Johnson, Chief, Defense Intelligence Agency at USTRANSCOM, presented the Defense Intelligence Director's Award as approved by Vice Adm. Lowell Jacoby, Director, DIA. As Joint Intelligence Center--Transportation Commander from April 2000 to July 2001, and Director of Intelligence from July 2001 to present, Butler increased the defense intelligence community's awareness of transportation as a critical component of preparation of the battlespace.
