SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill., (USTCNS, Oct 17, 2003) --- Soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, coast guardsmen, and civilians from U.S. Transportation Command's headquarters celebrated the Navy's 228th birthday during a ceremony here today.

The command's Seay Auditorium was transformed into a quarter-deck of a U.S. Navy ship as Rear Adm. Chris Ames, director, Strategy, Plans, Policy, and Programs for USTRANSCOM, and host for the ceremony, was piped aboard to start the ceremony.

USTRANSCOM has 145 sailors, working with the other services and civilians, providing synchronized transportation, distribution, and sustainment for the Department of Defense, during peace and war.
