USTRANSCOM commander formally thanks 104 commercial transportation partners

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- Air Force Gen. John Handy, commander, U.S. Transportation Command, awarded a USTRANSCOM Certificate of Appreciation to 104 commercial transportation partners for their service to the U.S. Armed Forces in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

The certificates cite the air, sea and surface transportation partners as an integral part of the overall Defense Transportation System who assisted USTRANSCOM in providing timely, efficient and coordinated movement of troops and equipment. USTRANSCOM, aided greatly by industry, has transported more than 885,000 passengers, and over 2.5 million tons of equipment and supplies in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

The 104 commercial partners included bus and airline passenger carriers; railroad, motor and ocean cargo carriers; container, ship and port authorities, and stevedores and labor relations associations as nominated by USTRANSCOM components, the Air Mobility Command, the Military Sealift Command and the Military Traffic Management Command.
