Maj. Gen. David S. Post invites all former commanders, unit members, and all who wish to join the celebration.
USTRANSCOM stood-up the JTRU on Sept. 7, 1991 making it the first joint unit in the Department of Defense.
The JTRU augments USTRANSCOM, which fully supports and is on the leading edge of DOD transformation efforts for a seamless, wholly integrated, synchronized end-to-end deployment and distribution system. This is accomplished under a single unified commander providing responsive, support to the warfighter throughout the continuum of peace and war.
The unique capability of the JTRU is the ability to utilize skills from members of all military services. Each service brings a distinct skill set which allows the unit to work together with each branch contributing a piece to the puzzle.
During the past 20 years the unit has supported many humanitarian and war time efforts; Including the recent natural disasters in Haiti and Japan, and the current war time contingency’s, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation New Dawn in Iraq, to name a few.
