Pentagon Channel provides live coverage of USTRANSCOM change of command
Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta will preside at the U.S. Transportation Command change of command at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Scott Air Force Base Parade Field. During the ceremony, Air Force Gen. William M. Fraser will assume command of the 145,000-member global organization from Air Force Gen. Duncan J. McNabb.
Also participating will be Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff.
General Fraser comes to USTRANSCOM after serving as the commander of Air Combat Command. General McNabb will retire after a 37-year military career in service to the nation.
USTRANSCOM, one of nine combatant commands, provides air, land and sea transportation, terminal management and aerial refueling to support the global deployment, employment, sustainment and redeployment of U.S. forces. Is components include the Army's Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Air Force's Air Mobility Command, Navy's Military Sealift Command and the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command.
