SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. - The Greater St. Louis Federal Executive Board recognized two divisions in U.S. Transportation Command’s strategy, policy, programs and logistics directorate (TC J5/4), last week with “Excellence in Government” awards.

The in-transit visibility integration division and the intermodal programs division each earned awards.

TC J5/4-T’s award focused on two of its major efforts, active radio frequency identification migration and satellite tracking of cargo transiting the Pakistan ground lines of communication.

“We share this prestigious award with our government civilians, military, and contract members of the in-transit visibility family,” said Andrew Monday, chief, TCJ5/4-T. “We also share it with all of USTRANSCOM, our components, automatic identification technology and ITV stakeholders across the DOD, as these specific efforts were truly team sports to provide improved visibility for the warfighter.”

TC J5/4-I’s award focused on its work on the Army modular causeway system, leading the renewal of the $186 million maritime security program, and providing strategic oversight of the Department of Defense’s $5.5 billion air carrier program.

“On behalf of the division, we are humbled to be highlighted for recognition,” said Al Lopez, Jr., chief, TC J5/4-I. “Because when you talk about the big things we teamed with this year like our support of the National Science Foundation, airlift and sealift programs, it’s only with a lot of help from the talent in USTRANSCOM acquisition and operations and plans, Air Mobility Command, Military Sealift Command, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command and many others that we were able to do some good on behalf of the warfighter. To that point, we consider this is a team-TRANSCOM win.”

The awards were announced on May 10, 2012, during the annual awards breakfast.

“We are very proud that the hard work undertaken by USTRANSCOM and our strategic partners has been recognized, especially in light of the tremendous work being done by our other government partners represented in the St. Louis Federal Executive Board,” Dr. Barbara J. Sotirin, deputy director, TC J5/4.

The St. Louis Federal Executive Board is one of the original ten Executive Boards established by a presidential memorandum in 1961. It serves the federal agency heads in the Greater St. Louis area including southern Illinois and eastern Missouri by unifying their efforts and helping them increase the effective and efficient delivery of services. There are approximately 90 federal agencies represented on the full board.
