USTRANSCOM employees earn Excellence in Government awards, CFC recognition

The St. Louis Federal Executive Board recognized five U.S. Transportation Command individuals and the Acquisition directorate team at the board’s Excellence in Government and Combined Federal Campaign awards ceremony held May 9 in St. Louis.

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – The St. Louis Federal Executive Board recognized five U.S. Transportation Command individuals and the Acquisition directorate team at the board’s Excellence in Government and Combined Federal Campaign awards ceremony held May 9 in St. Louis.

“Those  honored at this ceremony always go above and beyond in their service to our nation and in their dedication to raising awareness and money for the good causes represented by the CFC,” said Lt. Gen Kathleen Gainey, USTRANSCOM deputy commander, who was also the keynote speaker at the awards program.

The FEB recognized Jessica Krisch and Randall Janisch, budget analysts in USTRANSCOM’s Program Analysis and Financial Management division, as individual winners of the Excellence in Government award in administrative and technical categories, respectively.

Krisch is USTRANSCOM’s lead budget analyst for Air Mobility Command’s $9 billion Transportation Working Capital Fund budget.  The award recognized her for conducting a study of the Air Force’s $1.6 billion Airlift Readiness Account and leading a review of Air Mobility Command’s base support funding, which will reduce TWCF costs by more than $100 million per year.

The board recognized Janisch for his efforts to improve financial management and support to the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command during fiscal years 2012 and 2013.

Three USTRANSCOM individuals received awards for their leadership in the Combined Federal Campaign.

  • Tracy Holtgrave, who served as an executive secretary in the command support group, raised $11,080 as campaign coordinator, earning the small agencies award for offices of fewer than 100 employees.

  • Capt. Jeffrey Dutmers, foreign disclosure officer and a campaign coordinator, increased Intelligence directorate contributions 39 percent over last year, earning the mid-size agency (100 to 500 employees) award.  He was recognized for organizing a used book sale that raised $625.

  • Kevin Snider, contract specialist, was a key worker credited with generating 74 percent CFC participation in the Acquisition directorate.  He initiated a "breakfast burrito bonanza" to provide free breakfast to donors, and organized a Crock Pot cook-off to build awareness of the campaign.

USTRANSCOM’s Acquisition directorate earned two CFC team awards.  Gateway CFC organizers presented Gail Jorgenson, director of Acquisition, with the Team Award and the Unit Leadership Excellence Award for mid-size offices.  The directorate donated $44,000 and provided several volunteers to support the CFC at the regional level.  The directorate's donations represented a 30 percent increase over last year, said Laura Neuman-Howe, deputy director, Gateway CFC.

CFC organizers chose winners from among 64 individual and 23 team nominations across 38 categories.

Scott Air Force Base as a whole earned recognition as the only Gateway CFC division to increase donations over last year, with total contributions up $54,000, eight percent more than last year, according to Neuman-Howe.

The USTRANSCOM Joint Service Color Guard posted the colors for the event.
