SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (March 12, 2021) – Brig. Gen. Michelle L. Hayworth, director of command, control, communications and cyber systems for U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), participated in a panel discussion on “Data, Digital Modernization, and Diversity” during the virtual Rocky Mountain Cyberspace Symposium on March 11, 2021.

Hayworth laid out USTRANSCOM’s mission set and then talked about the Enterprise Data and Analytics Environment (EDAE). The goal is to “Provide decision makers at every level of the mobility enterprise with data that’s visible, accessible, linked and secure,” she said.

The EDAE is part of USTRANSCOM’s larger initiative targeting digital modernization. “Efforts to move us to a modernized target architecture…take advantage of advancements in secure controls and coding, and cloud services,” Hayworth said.

Hayworth also took the time to talk about the efforts in academia, government, and the private sector to improve diversity, especially with regard to the cyber workforce. She sees embracing diversity as critical to bringing new ways of thinking to the cyber problem set.

USTRANSCOM exists as a warfighting combatant command to project and sustain military power at a time and place of the nation’s choosing. Powered by dedicated men and women, TRANSCOM underwrites the lethality of the Joint Force, advances American interests around the globe, and provides our nation's leaders with strategic flexibility to select from multiple options, while creating multiple dilemmas for our adversaries.
