SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. - U.S. Transportation Command welcomed U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Jason France as its sixth Command Senior Enlisted Leader during a Change of Responsibility ceremony here Nov. 1, 2018.
The ceremony was officiated by U.S. Army Gen. Stephen Lyons, commander, USTRANSCOM, in the command's Seay Auditorium.
"For me, it's a really important marking in transition," said Lyons in his opening remarks.
"I've always had a senior enlisted leader by my side, and I know that's one individual that can get to me with the most candid, honest, forthright advice and situational awareness," said Lyons.
During the ceremony, U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Matthew Caruso, the outgoing SEL, passed the unit guidon to Lyons to signify relinquishing his duties. Lyons then passed the guidon, and responsibility, to France.
Afterward, France thanked Lyons for choosing him to become his senior enlisted leader.
"It is an honor for me to be that senior enlisted leader, and I look forward to everything you and I, and all the senior leaders of USTRANSCOM, will accomplish together for the men and women of the command, and for our nation," said France.
France was previously assigned as the Command Chief Master Sgt., Air Force Materiel Command, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
France is the principal advisor to the combatant commander and senior staff on all matters concerning joint force integration, readiness, professional development, and effective utilization of the enlisted corps. He coordinates with the headquarters staff, component commands, and subordinate organizations on the development and implementation of command policy and ensures the strategic focus and synchronized efforts of more than 144,000 military and civilian warfighters providing global air, land, and sea transportation for the Department of Defense.
