DTR Search Tips

XClicking on any DTR document title that appears in the search results will open that PDF document in a new tab or window.

Single word searches will search for instances of the search word within DTR documents and provide a list of DTR documents that contain that word. If that word exists within the summary displayed below the document title, that word will appear in underlined blue text.

Multi-word or phrase searches will search for instances of each word, not the phrase, within DTR documents and provide a list of DTR documents that contain any of the words. If any of those words exist within the document summary that is displayed below the document title, those words will appear in underlined blue text.

Wildcard

If you are not sure of how a particular word is spelled within a DTR document, the DTR Search Box does support wildcard characters question mark ? and asterisk *.  You cannot use a question mark or asterisk as the first character of any word in a search.

A question mark wildcard will search for all instances where a single character can be substituted; for example, "te?t" will match with "test", "text", "tent", and so on.

An asterisk wildcard will search for all instances where one or more characters can be substituted; for example, "te*t" will match with "test", "tempt", "teeeeeext", "technologist", and so on.

Words containing wildcards will NOT be highlighted within the document summary that is displayed below the document title.

Wildcards used in DTR searches do not transfer into Adobe Reader - if you perform a DTR search for "te?t" and open a resulting DTR document, Adobe Reader will search within that document for "te?t", explicitly. Unless te?t is actually in the document, nothing will be found for highlighting - no "test", "text", or "tent", even if words like "test", "text", or "tent" are actually in that document. Adobe Reader (including browser plugins) does not support wildcard searches.
