Rodeo 2000 winners announced

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. (USTCNS) --- Air Mobility Command's premier international airlift competition, Rodeo 2000, concluded May 12 with a ceremony announcing the winners of this year's competition.

The 6th Air Refueling Wing, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., captured the top award as the best overall air mobility wing.

Rodeo 2000 featured more than 80 teams from 16 countries, along with the U.S. Air Force, competing for the title "best of the best" in flying, maintenance, aerial port, security forces, special tactics and aeromedical evacuation categories.

Other major category winners included:

-- Airdrop Wing: 43rd Airlift Wing, Pope AFB, N.C.; AMC
-- Tanker Wing: 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus AFB, Okla.; Air Education and Training Command
-- Airland Wing: 60th AMW, Travis AFB, Calif.; AMC
-- Aerial Refueling Team: 157th Air Refueling Wing, Pease Air National Guard Base, N.H. (ANG); and 437th AW
(C-141 Starlifter), Charleston AFB, S.C.; AMC
-- International Team: Belgium
-- Special Tactics Team: 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope AFB; Air Force Special Operations Command
-- Aerial Port Team: 374th AW, Yokota Air Base, Japan; Pacific Air Forces
