USTRANSCOM CINC receives NDTA leadership award
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (USTCNS) --- Gen. Charles T. "Tony" Robertson, Jr., commander in chief of U.S. Transportation Command and commander, Air Mobility Command, was awarded a major recognition here Wednesday.
Robertson received the National Defense Transportation Association's National Defense Leadership Award during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. The ceremony was part of the week-long NTDA 2000 Forum.
Robertson was awarded for his "tireless efforts to improve the capabilities of the defense transportation system in support of the war-fighting commanders in chief," according to the Oct. 2000 edition of the NDTA's Defense Transportation Journal.
The result "has placed (USTRANSCOM), the component commands, and their commercial readiness partners in the forefront of our nation's military strategy," the Journal stated.
Previous recipients of the award included Gen. Colin Powell, Lt. Gen. Kenneth R. Wykle, Gen. Robert L. Rutherford, and Gen. Walter Kross.
Robertson has commanded USTRANSCOM and AMC since Aug. 1998.
NDTA, is an educational, non-profit organization with more than 7,800 members in 31 countries, and has 76 active chapters.
USTRANSCOM is one of nine unified commands and is headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Its transportation component commands include Air Mobility Command, Military Sealift Command, and Military Traffic Management Command.
