DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. (USTCNS) --- The Air Mobility Command Security Forces selection board convened in November to name the 436th SF Squadron the "Best Medium Security Forces Unit" in AMC.

This is the third time the Dover Air Force Base unit has won the award, which has been around for 30 years and is awarded for outstanding security force mission effectiveness. The first time the unit won was in 1991, when they went on to win at the Air Force level. The second time they won was in 1998.

"The hard work, dedication, professionalism and performance of the troops won this award," said Chief Master Sgt. Michael Mendoza, 436th SFS operations manager. SFS did many outstanding things this past year, including several high-profile Raven missions, said Mendoza.

"This award is merely confirmation of what we always think about our squadron," said Maj. Gregory Ditzler, 436th SFS commander. "We're the best at what we do and it's nice others think that as well.

"The airmen standing at the gate in the heat of summer or the cold of winter don't think about AMC level awards when they're checking and waving in hundreds of vehicles every shift," said Ditzler. "They think about their duty to stand as the first line of defense for our people and C-5s."

"The 436th SFS has set high standard over the years," said Mendoza. "New personnel help improve our unit to take us to the next level."

The squadron will now compete for the Air Force level award. The winner of the competition will be announced in July.

"The Dover Security Force Team knows what it takes to win at the Air Force level," said Mendoza. "Our folks are already winners, regardless if we're selected as an Air Force finalist." (FROM DOVER AIR FORCE BASE PUBLIC AFFAIRS).
