USTRANSCOM selects top civilian performers of quarter
Army Maj. Gen. Butch Pair, USTRANSCOM chief of staff, announced the winners of the civilian employees of the quarter, Oct. - Dec. 2001, at USTRANSCOM's Seay auditorium.
Three civilians received recognition for outstanding service in categories based on their grade level.
Mary Leige, from Fairview Heights, a secretary in the plans and policy directorate was awarded for skillfully orchestrating a complex and aggressive travel plan for over half of her directorate's staff.
Leige also designed a process to project and track temporary duty expenses, which helped the division chief prioritize and keep on budget.
Jerome Johnson, also from Fairview Heights, a senior transportation specialist in the operations and logistics directorate, was selected for implementing operating policies and procedures to ensure effective management and efficient use of the Defense Transportation System.
Johnson is an expert in Crisis Action Team Sustainment Cell during Operation Enduring Freedom. He established a sustainment airlift plan for the Central Command area of responsibility, which delivered over 2 million pounds of wheat and 3 million daily rations to the Afghanistan population.
Belleville's John Vollmer, a financial management analyst in the operations and logistics directorate conducts financial analysis of defense transportation programs to establish and implement pricing and rates business rules and procedures.
Vollmer also reviews and leads special studies of finance, budget, accounting, transportation operations and market, and Transportation Working Capital Fund cost and revenue related information. He performs a variety of cost, budget, economic, and market analyses involving the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and examination of worldwide transportation programs and support activities.
