USTRANSCOM hosts St. Louis CBS-TV channel 4 affiliate; command tracks Santa's progress
Reporter Robin Smith and her video crew arrived to visit the USTRANSCOM's Mobility Command Center to witness first-hand the command's ability to track Santa and his reindeer-led sleigh as he ventured out of his North Pole headquarters.
The crew videotaped the segment, which will air Christmas Eve, with the help of many of the personnel on duty in the MCC. Army Staff Sgt. Gerald Brantley, from the Manpower and Personnel Directorate, led Smith through the operation on Santa's progress.
Brantley used a slide that was projected onto one of the MCC's big-screen monitors to show Santa's progress across the world.
"Santa was spotted over Europe and Africa," said Brantley, "and by our calculations he should arrive just in the nick of time to deliver gifts to the boys and girls," in the greater St. Louis area.
In the segment's final scene, several MCC personnel formed a group to wish viewers "happy holidays."
Smith said the Christmas Eve segment will run on local news broadcasts, possibly more than once during the day.
