USTRANSCOM reservist promoted to one-star rank

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- U.S. Transportation Command Army Reserve officer William H. Johnson was promoted to brigadier general in a ceremony here earlier this month.

Johnson is currently serving as the deputy director of Operations and Logistics, United States Transportation Command. Army Lt. Gen. Daniel G. Brown, USTRANSCOM deputy commander in chief, presided over the ceremony.

Johnson is an Army Transportation Corps officer with almost 30 years of combined active and reserve service.

In addition to his military career, Johnson is the director of Purchasing and Sourcing for Encompass Group, LLC, McDonough, Georgia, where he has worked for 25 years.

In 1972, Johnson was a Distinguished Military Graduate from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Ga., and in 1976, he earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Boston University.

He resides in Morrow, Georgia.

In addition to his wife Melanie, his father-in-law retired Maj. Gen. Emory C. Parrish; mother-in-law Nelda Parrish; and Air Force Maj. Gen. William W. Welser, III, USTRANSCOM director of operations and logistics J3/4 attended the ceremony.
