CHARLESTON, S.C., (USTCNS) --- Army Maj. Gen. Robert Dail, director of operations, U.S. Transportation Command, recognized and thanked the crew of the USNS Watkins, here, Dec 16, for their outstanding surface mobility operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The 30 crewmembers of the Large, Medium-Speed Roll-on / Roll-off ship have made eight voyages delivering combat cargo and sustainment to Southwest Asia. Dail presented certificates and the Merchant Marine Expeditionary Medal to the crew on behalf of Gen. John Handy, commander, USTRANSCOM.
