Patriot Express program to be restructured

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (USTCNS) --- The U.S. Transportation Command has announced the phased
restructuring of chartered passenger air services provided through the Air Mobility Command's Patriot Express beginning in fiscal year 2005 and ending in fiscal year 2008.

This decision is in response to customer trends and
operating realities. Patriot Express costs the DoD approximately $67 million more annually than does travel via commercial/General Service Administration City Pairs program.

Numerous initiatives aimed at increasing
ridership have not increased passenger load factors to offset operating costs. Routes will continue to locations with no commercial service, and to force protection locations. All other routes will be phased out over the
four-year period.
