USTRANSCOM JIACG members visit USNORTHCOM
Scott Air Force Base, Ill. (USTCNS) -- Ten members of the U. S. Transportation Commands Joint Interagency Coordination Group (JIACG) traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a joint meeting with U.S. Northern Commands JIACG.
Lead by Lance Carpenter, USTRANSCOMs JIACG program manager, the USTRANSCOM delegation included members from several agencies with representatives stationed at USTRANSCOM such as the Defense Logistics Agency, National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Navy, Defense Contract Audit Agency, Army Material Command and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
In the morning session, the group received briefings on Pre-Scripted Mission Assignments, Defense Support of Civil Authorities, and the Critical Infrastructure Program. During a briefing on interagency training, Lt.Col. Doug Johnson, USNORTHCOMs chief, training and education, explained that a doctoral degree in Homeland Security was being developed by USNORTHCOM in conjunction with the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, for select applicants.
The afternoon was spent in a joint JIACG meeting where each combatant commands JIACG briefed their activities. This was followed by break-out meetings with various USNORTHCOM JIACG working groups.
The days activities ended with a tour of the USNORTHCOM Joint Operations Center and a briefing on USNORTHCOM current operations.
This exchange, in addition to on-going training by the National Defense Universitys Interagency Transformation, Education and After Action Review, provided a rare opportunity to enhance the integration of different COCOM JIACGs for efficient and effective assistance to their respective commanders across a broad spectrum of plans and operations.
