USTRANSCOM soldiers honored by Association of the U.S. Army
Sgt. Shawn Koch of the USTRANSCOM Joint Transportation Reserve Unit received the unit's AUSA Soldier of the Year award. "I was quite overwhelmed to have been nominated for such a prestigious award," Koch said. "This was totally unexpected."
Koch feels he received the award because "Last year I assisted with the ammo transportation for our weapons qualification and also helped put together our annual training as well as taught some of the classes."
Staff Sgt. Arlisa Moffatt received the U.S. Army Element, USTRANSCOM AUSA Soldier of the Year Award. "To be recognized as the USTRANSCOM, AUSA Army Element Soldier of the Year is an honor and a privilege," Moffatt said. "I am honored and thankful that the Army Element Personnel staff and Lt. Col. John Bray (Army Element deputy commander) thought enough of me to consider me for such a great honor. This honor will not be taken for granted." Moffatt currently works in the mailroom as the command mail specialist.
Alex J. Hendel, son of Lt. Col. Donald Hendel of USTRANSCOM's Operations and Plans Directorate, received a $1,000 scholarship award from AUSA which he will apply toward tuition at Fontbonne University, where he plans to study business administration and military science in the Army ROTC program.
