Rota and Misawa to return as Patriot Express stops
Patriot Express flights in the Pacific originate weekly from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Wash., and beginning with the new fiscal year, will travel to Yokota and Misawa Air Bases and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, then back to Seattle-Tacoma airport.
U.S. Transportation Command officials said success with the current Patriot Express Japan route helped bring Misawa back into the flight schedule, as it had the stop at Iwakuni, which returned in April.
In addition, USTRANSCOM has returned bi-weekly scheduled service for Rota to the route operating from Naval Air Station Norfolk, Va.
"We were happy to announce the return of service to both Misawa and Rota," said Larry Lorentzen, senior commercial air requirements analyst with USTRANSCOM's directorate of operations. "The unified support from theater senior leaders for key ridership minimums contributed directly to these opportunities to expand Patriot Express service. Continued leadership commitment to support the PE charter service for military travelers will allow USTRANSCOM to continue operating the scheduled charter service."
Details on the expanded Patriot Express Service will be available soon through Passenger Service Reservation Centers and local Transportation Management Offices.
