SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – Gail Jorgenson, U.S. Transportation Command, director, Acquisition, received an alumni achievement award May 19, during graduation ceremonies at Collinsville High School.

Gary Peccola, president, Board of Education, Collinsville, Ill., Community Unit School District 10, presented the award to Jorgenson who holds a civilian rank equivalent to a two-star general.

After the presentation, Jorgenson, class of 1976, addressed the 2012 class of more than 400 students and spoke about the mission of USTRANSCOM and its contribution to national defense.

She then challenged the graduates to commit to something important.

“Make a difference, “she said.  “Be passionate about it.  Don’t expect the other guy to do it.  Find something that moves you, something that excites you, something that humbles you.

“And something that gives you great reward,” Jorgenson continued.  “Not the monetary kind, I mean the kind that makes you feel good inside.
