This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the formation of United States Transportation Command. Over the past three decades, USTRANSCOM has answered the Nation’s call to deliver national objectives on behalf of the President, providing a rapid and responsive global force. Day after day, USTRANSCOM continues to be a vital component of the Nation’s defense and wartime readiness capability. The strong foundation, built by the men and women of USTRANSCOM, enables the command to meet the challenges of today, from contingency operations to humanitarian missions around the globe, while simultaneously advancing and evolving for tomorrow.

To recognize this historic milestone and pay tribute to the hard work, innovation, and leadership performed by past and present United States Transportation Command personnel, we are planning a celebration! At the same time, we will elevate the profile and awareness of the command within the DoD through the recognition of our 30-year heritage.

To accomplish this, USTRANSCOM has commenced our “30-4-30 Campaign”: Continuous command, base wide, and community engagements to celebrate our 30-year legacy of excellence.

Command. To celebrate this historic milestone, the command has invited 30 Four-Star General/Flag Officers or equivalents to come visit and develop our workforce. Distinguished guests include the SecDef, DepSecDef, Combatant Commanders, Service Chiefs, past USTRANSCOM Commanders, and Component Commanders. Each of these leaders will visit Headquarters USTRANSCOM throughout the year to participate in senior leader office calls and staff roundtables, along with addressing our workforce as part of the Command’s Distinguished Speaker Series. This will provide an opportunity for these senior leaders to build a strong working relationship with USTRANSCOM, while at the same time exposing our workforce to unique insights from other senior leaders across the DoD. This campaign includes a USTRANSCOM Senior Statesmen Symposium and a major ceremony in the fall of 2017.

Base. Not only does 2017 mark the 30th Anniversary of USTRANSCOM, but this year also recognizes significant milestones of several organizations our Command has historic partnerships with. Throughout the year, USTRANSCOM will integrate its 30th Anniversary events with Scott Air Force Base’s 100th Anniversary celebrations, the United States Air Force’s 70th Anniversary, as well as Air Mobility Command’s and the Tanker Airlift Control Center’s 25th Anniversary.

Community. USTRANSCOM would not be a success today if it weren’t for its world-class community support. The robust relationship our Command has with the local community is one that is not only respected, but cherished. To celebrate the unending support our Command continues to receive, USTRANSCOM will participate in community events and outreach programs to say thank you, while spreading awareness of the Command and its mission.

USTRANSCOM’s ability to deliver an immediate force tonight and a decisive force when needed is a unique capability and a significant strategic advantage of the United States. This ability is only made possible through the people of USTRANSCOM.

Thank you for your selflessness, dedication and commitment to this great Nation.  You are encouraged to get involved and enjoy this yearlong celebration. Thank you for your service to our country and the global USTRANSCOM community!
