TRANSCOM Commander visits Expeditionary Center Headquarters

U.S. Army Gen. Stephen R. Lyons, commander, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), met with U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Mark D. Camerer, commander of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, April 2, while visiting Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (April 7, 2021) – U.S. Army Gen. Stephen R. Lyons, commander, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), met with U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Mark D. Camerer, commander of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, April 2, while visiting Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

The recent trip gave the combatant commander an opportunity to meet service members who are critical to USTRANSCOM’s mission to protect and sustain military forces globally.

“USTRANSCOM can’t accomplish its mission without the men and women of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center providing global air mobility enroute support, crisis response forces    and a wide range of enabling capabilities,” said Lyons.

Lyons also recognized members of the team, who recently participated in Operation Octave Quartz in the U.S. Africa Command area of responsibility, for their outstanding performance.

The U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center is the Air Force's Center of Excellence for Expeditionary Agile Combat Support and Rapid Global Mobility training and education. The center also has direct oversight of the Global Air Mobility Support System, Joint Base installation support, world-wide contingency response, and building partnership capacity mission sets within the global mobility enterprise.

“Through the Expeditionary Center’s global posture, USTRANSCOM enables the Department of Defense to project and sustain the Joint Force that provides deterrence, protects our national security interests, and when necessary, responds to win decisively,” said Lyons.

USTRANSCOM exists as a warfighting combatant command to project and sustain military power at a time and place of the nation’s choosing. Powered by dedicated men and women, TRANSCOM underwrites the lethality of the Joint Force, advances American interests around the globe, and provides our nation's leaders with strategic flexibility to select from multiple options, while creating multiple dilemmas for our adversaries.
