NGA director visits U.S. Transportation Command
Robert Cardillo, director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, addressed members of U.S. Transportation Command and its component commands Jan. 18 in the Seay Auditorium.
Cardillo was the first guest in USTRANSCOM's 30-4-30 Distinguished Speaker Series, an initiative to celebrate the command's 30th anniversary in October 2017. Gen. Darren McDew, USTRANSCOM commander, has invited 30 four-star general officer, flag officer and equivalent strategic senior leaders to speak about how they view the globe, linkages between USTRANSCOM's and the leader's organization, and a vision for USTRANSCOM partnerships.
During his visit, Cardillo also had an office call with Lt. Gen. Stephen Lyons, USTRANSCOM deputy commander, and met with members of the command's NGA Support Team and National Agency Representatives.
Cardillo began his career with the Defense Intelligence Agency as an Imagery Analyst in 1983. In 2000, he was selected to the Senior Executive Service. From 2002 to 2006, Cardillo led Analysis and Production, in addition to Source Operations and Management, at NGA. He served as the Deputy Director of the DIA and the Deputy Director for Analysis, DIA, from 2006 to 2010. During the summer of 2009, Cardillo was the first Acting civilian J2. From 2010 to 2014, he served as the first Deputy Director for Intelligence Integration, Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Throughout his career, Cardillo has received the Presidential Rank of Distinguished Executive, the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award, and the Director of National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal.
